Missy Elliott’s OUT OF THIS WORLD Tour: A Galactic Celebration of Music and Innovation

Missy Elliott, the global superstar and Hip Hop/R&B pioneer, has once again proven why she is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. With a career spanning over three decades, Elliott continues to push boundaries and set new standards. Her latest endeavor, the OUT OF THIS WORLD — The Missy Elliott Experience tour, is a testament to her enduring influence and creativity.

A Stellar Performance in Los Angeles

On July 11 and July 12, 2024, Missy Elliott took Los Angeles by storm with back-to-back shows at the Crypto.com Arena. These performances marked her debut headline tour, and she did not disappoint. Fans were treated to a spectacular show that blended nostalgia with futuristic elements, celebrating her legendary 30-year music career. The dynamic setlist featured four acts, including timeless hits like “Work It” and “Get Ur Freak On,” as well as newer tracks such as “Cool Off” and “DripDemeanor.” The crowd was on their feet, singing and dancing along to every beat.

Star-Studded Support and Audience

The tour’s lineup was nothing short of impressive, with Hip Hop legend Busta Rhymes, Multi-Platinum selling superstar Ciara, and mega producer Timbaland joining Elliott on stage. The Los Angeles Times praised the performance, stating, “Together, all four of them made an unimpeachable argument that they saw the future back then, and finally put it all on stages today.” The audience was equally star-studded, with celebrity guests including Angela Bassett, John Boyega, Tyler, The Creator, Jennifer Hudson, Lizzo, Victoria Monét, Kelly Rowland, and many more.

A Galactic Birthday Celebration

Earlier in the week, on July 10, Elliott hosted MISSY ELLIOTT PRESENTS PARTY ON THE PLAZA: AN OUT OF THIS WORLD EXPERIENCE. This event, held in partnership with The Music Center and Gloria Molina Grand Park, was a birthday dance party for Elliott. Thousands of Angelenos attended, enjoying live DJs and performances by her tour dancers. The event culminated in a spectacular Elliott-themed drone show, created by Grizzly Drones, that left everyone in awe. Surprise guests Ciara and Pepa from Salt-N-Pepa added to the night’s excitement. Sponsored by adidas and PATRÓN EL ALTO Tequila, the event was produced by Monami Entertainment and Wright Productions.

Making History with NASA

Missy Elliott’s innovative spirit reached new heights on July 15, when she announced that her song “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” became the first Hip Hop song transmitted to space. In collaboration with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Elliott beamed the lyrics and an inspirational message to Venus via the NASA Deep Space Network. This historic transmission, traveling at the speed of light, took nearly 14 minutes to reach the planet. This achievement aligns perfectly with the OUT OF THIS WORLD theme of her tour, showcasing Elliott’s ability to blend music with groundbreaking technology.
