Genius Ways To Make Camping More Comfortable

Though camping is a fun activity, it’s not the most comfortable experience. You can often expect chilly nights and hard ground. However, there are genius ways to make camping more comfortable! Stick around for great advice.

Pick a Good Campsite

Get in the mindset of Goldilocks and pick a campsite that’s “just right.” The best areas have dry, even ground. Pick a space near picnic tables to have a place for meals. Pay attention to sun exposure, especially if you prefer a shaded spot. You should look for an area with trees to ensure your comfort.

Get a Sleeping Pad or Cot

Who wants to sleep on the cold, lumpy ground? No one. Getting a sleeping pad or cot is a way to make camping more comfortable. Sleeping aids create a warm barrier between you and the ground. They support a restful night, which is necessary after a day of activities. A good sleeping pad is lightweight, soft, and easy to transport. After all, you don’t want to lug a heavy mattress to the campground.

Consider a Portable Heater

Most campgrounds experience chilly temperatures at night. Although you can bundle up in layers, consider other forms of warmth. For instance, you could bring a portable heater for the tent. Place the compact model on the side of your tent to experience warm air all night. Make sure nothing sits in front of the heater, as this can be a fire hazard.

Create a Makeshift Toilet

When you’re roughing it in the woods, you don’t have access to traditional bathrooms. Squatting near a tree isn’t the most comfortable (or sanitary) option. Luckily, there’s a quick solution with an unlikely tool. One of the best uses for pool noodles when camping is creating toilet seats.

Line a 10-gallon bucket with a trash bag to create a temporary toilet. Shape a foam noodle into a circle and secure it with duct tape. Then, cut a slit on the underside of the noodle and fit the noodle over the rim of the bucket. You now have a cozy seat for the makeshift toilet.

Bring No-Cook Meals

Many campers bring cooking utensils, mini grills, and ingredients for meals. But sometimes, you don’t want to fire up a grill for every feast. Bring no-cook meals to the campsite! Prep a salad, make a charcuterie board, and grab overnight oats and other ready-to-eat items. Don’t forget to pack snacks. You can never go wrong with chips, granola bars, popcorn, etc. You’ll fill your hungry belly without breaking out the cookware.
